- What are the biggest challenges to regular exercise and a healthy diet that you face? How are these challenges going to change for you over the next five years?
The biggest challenges to regular exercise and a healthy diet that I face is a lack of time. I have no other excuse…I just do not have enough time in the day to devote to going to the gym. In spurts, I do prepare healthy food or choose healthy food items from the cafeteria. I have membership fees deducted directly from my checking account, but I have not been to the gym in over 6 months. Over the next five years I must manage my time more efficiently to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Hopefully, after completion of school I will have more time to exercise on a consistent basis. I plan to incorporate more intentional alternative exercise regimens into my daily schedule such as taking the stairs opposed to taking the elevators…parking at the far end of the parking lot, etc. I’m open for other suggestions!

Time is a challenging obstacle to overcome, I have the same problem. Oh, and taking the stairs instead of the elevators is not only a workout, but actually can sae time as well. In the MCL, i make it a point to NEVER take the elevators, the lines are usually way to long. I walk up the stairs to the fifth floor and actually beat other classmates to the room who chose to take the elevator!

I could agree more; I face the exact same challenges! It seems like there's never enough hours in the day-especially when you're trying to juggle a million different things. Since I can't make it to the gym, I do a few things that I think help. I park as far away from the door as possible, I take the stairs when possible, I take my dogs for walks, and when I carry my groceries in I do a few arm curls with them (bags with cans work extremely well)!
I agree time is an issue. Is it me or does it feel like we have lost even more of our days then we use to have. I also have monthly fees deducted from my account. I have not been to the gym in over a month. What a waste of money. We really need to arrange our schedules so that we can have that time for ourselves. If you have a family it is even more important to this, so that they you can be around for a long time to see them.
Well, I can see that I am not alone here! I can relate to EVERY thing you struggle with! Time, there is ever enough hours in a day! Food is yet another - it is easier to make bad choices like fast food. They gym dues come out of my account as well and until about a month ago I had not been in at least 6 mos. I have not been great in the last month either but better than none. My husband and I set goals this weekend for 6 weeks and we are really going to try to stick to them, we'll see how it goes!
